In The Begining, there was a broad hole, This hole was shipping for Simple Caddy. This is how it got fixed.

Among the Various websites i have built, i have occasionally had the need to change existing components slightly to do the job the way i need it. A prime example of this is the Simple Caddy Project, it offered me and my client a basic shopping cart that was easy to manage and hard to make mistakes in. it also had the advantage of giving the customer an enjoyable end user experience. The one thing that Simple Caddy didn't have at the time was shipping calculations. This was a major setback. So I had a go with virtue mart, the only other free shopping cart that i have found that intergrates into joomla but VirtueMart just caused me too loose hair. I gathered i would have more luck creating a shipping module for Simple Caddy. So Thats what i did.

The Simple Caddy Shipping Module was born.

I decided to become active in the forum and post my progress, soon I had 2 people that were interested in helping to test and make sugestions. This grew into a forum thread over 300 messages long, and eventually Henk, the Administrator of Simple Caddy offered our own sub forum as more people became interested. The popularity of this grew so much that Henk offered me the oportunity to merge the shipping module with the next release, thus now available is Simple Caddy 1.71.

Now it seem i have gained a reputation in the forums as a good guy, i have people requesting specfic changes over and above the simple caddy scope, but things still considered simple compared to VirtueMart. Often people are quite willing to pay small proces for these changes, and so as i develop these Variations i will make them available to everyone.
